Rock Spyder 4×4 will be hosting their 3rd annual Customer Appreciation Day Sunday, May 2nd. This family friendly event is a venue for 4×4 enthusiasts to come together and get excited about the upcoming off-road season. It serves as the first official “event” of the season for the central Ontario off-road community to show off their Jeeps and trucks. According to owner Jim MacDonald “our goal is to thank our customers for their loyalty and continued support, as well as promote our vendors and their products.” Join BDS’s own Chris Bowers who’ll be at Rock Spyder 4×4 for this great event! For more information go to www.rockspyder4x4.com or call the shop at 905-294-0494.
ROCK SPYDER 4X4 evolved from the competitive rock crawling team, Rock Spyder Motorsports. After six years of competing and accomplishing the goals he had set out for himself, owner Jim MacDonald decided to expand on the Rock Spyder concept. With twenty-two years as an avid four-wheeler and seventeen years as a mechanic in some of the best 4WD shops in Ontario, Jim has acquired the knowledge and experience to provide the best possible service in his own facility. Rock Spyder 4×4′s strategy is to maintain a loyal customer base through a customer-oriented focus on business by providing professional service and extensive product knowledge.
The Mud-N-Yer Eye Frolic hosted by Mountain Transit Authority (MTA), is one of the longest running four-wheeling events in the country and for many, it’s the traditional opening of the wheeling season. This year more than 200 4×4 vehicles and about 600 participants are expected.
The Mud-N-Yer Eye Frolic is held at Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area in Hollister, California. The wheeling area of the park has 24 miles of trails on 800 acres of land. The trails range from easy fire roads to black diamond hill climbs and cover almost 2,000 feet of elevation gain. Some of the best sections of trail that MTA maps out are uncharted and virtually unknown.
Everything starts very early on Friday morning with participants lining up to get a good campsite-it’s first-come, first-served. By lunchtime on Friday, the camping area is like a small town with people picking up registration packets, meeting friends and kids playing. In the afternoon the RAMP TRAVEL INDEX (RTI) ramp is set up for a little friendly flexing competition.
MTA maps out a self-guided trail route with challenging routes for all vehicles including some alternate “hard way” sections for those with more capable vehicles. The year’s trail covers every major area of the park. Along the trail two games will be set up to provide a little competitive fun. In years past games have included the Treasure Hunt, where participants had to search their vehicle for all sorts of odd items. There has also been the Toilet Toss, where passengers had to toss a wad of toilet paper through a series of open toilet lids painted with appropriate pictures.
Saturday evening begins with a catered barbeque dinner. After dinner a live band with dancing under the stars.
Sunday is awards and raffle day . Awards will be handed out for trail games winners, a hard luck award for most breakage, largest club attendance, longest distance traveled and muddiest truck.
