King of the Hammers 2013 Recap

February 15th, 2013 No comments

Another King of the Hammers is in the books and the guys from BDS are back home shaking the dust off, going on with stories of the and camaraderie and competition out in the lake bed.  Mike Maloney and Jason Shellhaas headed out to Johnson Valley for the week long competition and came back with this to say:

…this event continues to expand and draw in larger crowds than ever before. The weather was all over the map and as motos, quads, Jeep, trucks, and buggies took to the terrain to be crowned the new King. In the main event on Friday  the competition came down to the wire with 2-time winner Shannon Campbell nipping at the heels of eventual winners Randy and David Slawson.

In the Everyman challenge, BDS distributor Pacific Fabrication stepped up and ran one heck of a race, climbing his way to into 3rd place at one point with a 40 minute lead in the team’s Blazer Truggy. Kevin and the Pacific Fab crew eventually DNF’d a mile up the Mountain from Remote Pit 2a after nearly losing the the axle when the truss sheared.

It was great to meet so many of our west coast customers and spend time with the Off Road Warehouse crew, who were kind enough to host both our sales staff and a great new display of soon to be released for the JK Wrangler. Congratulations to all the competitors that took part in this year’s races, it was an awesome week out in the desert!

Off Road Expo was a blast!

October 11th, 2010 No comments

BDS Suspension made the long trip from Coldwater, MI to Pomona, CA for the Lucus Oil Off Road Expo this past weekend. This being our first time at the Expo we didn’t really know what to expect. This event is truly a Mecca for off road products, bringing Sandrails, Jeeps, Prerunners, Full Size trucks, and side by sides together to celebrate our great sport. For many this was a first look at our First-to-Market 6.5” High Clearance, No Torsion Bar Drop System for the new 2011 GM HD Trucks. We received a ton of great feedback on our lift kits and had a really enjoyed talking to our dedicated distributors and the retail buying public. Ansani Designs brought out their 2010 Toyota Tundra to show off in the BDS Display, sporting the BDS 7” high clearance lift kit and 35” tires, along with Ansani’s great front bumper. The truck was a big hit in our booth and thanks again to Ansani Designs for bringing it out.

The event stayed busy throughout the weekend and at times was even chaotic to the point it was hard to get away and grab photos from the rest of the event including the Can-Am test drives, freestyle motocross, live music, and bikini contests. All in all the event once again was a huge success and we can’t wait to go back next year!

Labor Day Weekend at Rocks and Valleys

September 10th, 2010 No comments

I headed up to Rocks and Valleys with the BDS TJ for a weekend of wheeling.

Saturday, September 4th brought the First Club Master Challenge to Rocks and Valleys off road park in Harrison, Mi. Over 400 spectators came to see 10 Michigan off road clubs compete to see who truly had what it takes to be first among many great clubs. Running in teams of three over a two-part, nearly half mile long rock course, the action was frantic as teammates tried to get all of their Jeeps and Buggies through without timing out.

When the dust settled, West Michigan’s Two Trackers (http://www.twotrackers.org/) dominated at a combined total  average of 7.59 minutes. Second place went to 2 Beat on 4×4 with 13.63m, and third to Rock Nuts with 14.42m. Overall, the Ten teams put on quite a show, and made for a great day for everyone despite the low- 50’s temperatures and intermittent rain.

Sunday was a play day, exploring the many great trails at Rocks and Valleys, All of which are clearly labeled – Black Diamond meaning lockers, big tires and body damage, which the BDS TJ was more than up to, after subjecting to the Ultimate Adventure ’09/’10 and other hard wheeling trips . All in all, a great weekend, and a well run event that will hopefully be the first of many Club Challenges in Harrison, MI.

p.s. It’s great working for a company that after rolling the company vehicle, and hear “it’s cool as long as you got photos” from your boss.
