For the third year in a row I was blessed with the opportunity to represent BDS at the Annual Eastern Truck and Accessories Open House and Customer Appreciation Day.
This all day event, held May 23rd at Eastern’s retail location in Norfolk Virginia, is always “the place to be” if you are a truck or jeep enthusiast. The Event hosts a Truck Show and Shine with trophies given out in 10 different categories. Vehicles began to arrive as soon as the gates opened at 10:00 a.m. and by 11:30 the main lot was full and participants were utilizing the overflow lot next door. Click on www.etaoffroad.com for a complete list of Trophy winners.
Entertainment was provided by a live duo strumming guitars and singing songs most popular to the multi-aged crowd. The kiddies in attendance were treated to a face painting clown who was kept busy for more than 3 hours turning all the little faces into something to smile at.
A lunch was served beginning a noon and consisted of hot dogs, hamburgs, several different salads, beans, chips and dip and a wonderful dessert. Cold non-alcoholic beverages were available the entire day. All provided free of charge as Eastern’s way of saying thanks to their many wonderful customers.
The Highlight of the day began at 2:00 p.m. when all attention is turned to the Annual Auction and Raffle with the proceeds going to a local Branch of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Over 100 items were either auctioned off or presented as raffle ticket winners. Items ranged from t-shirts and hats to an authentic autographed Kurt Busch replica race car. The mood was one of excitement and the crowd was extremely willing to spend money. When everything was said and done over $10k was raised for the Local CF effort.
The afternoon concluded with a police escorted, 10 mile Truck Run to the Atlantic Ocean waterfront to a local pizza parlor. It was here the trophies were presented and many acquaintances were renewed. One final round of applause was given to all the participants and as the party began to break up an invitation extended for everyone to return for next year’s event.

There was another great turn out at this year’s Lima Jamboree despite the cooler temperatures and occasional sprinkles. As always the events rocked, the variety of jeeps and trucks was astonishing and the people were great. The BDS booth generated its share of interest and I got to catch up with old friends and all the great fans of BDS kits that keep spreading the word about our quality, service, and unbeatable lifetime warranty. It’s great to hear so much positive feedback. My favorite part of going to shows is talking to potential new customers and helping them make informed decisions about the right kit for their vehicle and what makes BDS so special.
I ran into a couple that I had met at another show that was looking for the right kit for a jeep that they just purchased. After catching up and a good Q& A about their suspension needs I hooked the guy’s wife up with a new BDS T-shirt we designed just for the ladies and took her picture next to our truck. After a hook up like that how could they be anything but BDS for life customers? By the way you can get one of these great ladies cut T’s by clicking here http://www.bds-suspension.com/products/pr_apparel.php.
All in all it was another great show and I had a blast. Look for me at show near you.
If you are a Discovery Channel junky like myself, then I’m sure you’ve seen the Howe & Howe Tech TV show. In every episode they build amazing tanks and crazy machines. These are two guys that seriously know machine design. When Mike and Geoff contacted us about lifts for their trucks, we were flattered. We were hoping to get a company personal assault vehicle out of the deal, but that has yet to materialize.
