The 2011 Scheid Diesel Extravaganza

This was BDS’s first year attending the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza and we are happy to say that it did not disappoint. There were more diesel truck packed into the small town of Terre Haute, Indiana then you’d think possible. Well over 10,000 spectators and their trucks made the trip to watch and/or participate in the truck show, Tractor pulls, and diesel drags. Two dynamometers stationed directly outside the vendor barn kept diesel smoke in the air all day every day. BDS was the only suspension company attending the event this year, and there were plenty of  diesel truck enthusiasts interested in upgrading their over taxed stock suspension components. We had a great time answering questions and educating the masses on  the BDS product line. The show and shine produced some very nice and unique vehicles with some sporting BDS suspension lifts. Big thanks to the crew from Scheid Diesel for playing host to this great event. We’re already looking forward to jumping back in the diesel fumes for next year’s show!

BDS Tundra up For Sale

BDS Tundra up For Sale

It’s time to make room around the shop for some cool new projects. On the chopping block is the BDS Tundra, which has served us well over the past few years and is ready to excite someone new. The BDS Tundra has been a beast of a truck, making trips from the east coast to the west, wheeling in Moab and cruising up around Canada. It’s been garage kept (ok, so it’s our heated warehouse) and only driven on the weekends to shows (and occasionally around town during the week). We purchased it new from the local dealer back in late 2006 and it’s been used to develop our 3”, 4.5”, and 7” suspension kits. She (or he, depending on how you look at it) has been in magazines, featured at events, and served “its” time without complaint or complication. Check out the specs:

2007 Toyota Tundra Double Cab SR5 TRD

- 5.7L V8, currently with 42K miles
- 7″ BDS High Clearance Suspension System
- 37×13.50R20 Interco M16 Tires, 75-80% tread
- 20×9 KMC Hoss Wheels
- Custom front Pre-Runner Bumper (factory front bumper also included)
- Amp Research Retractable Steps
- Extang Trifecta Folding Bed Cover
- Spray-in Bedliner
- Interior is completely stock

The Tundra has been a great truck to us, and will be the same to whoever buys it. The truck is amazingly quick and comfortable to drive; its our salesmen’s favorite to travel to shows in. Currently it sports a vinyl wrap, which can be removed if the buyer wishes. Current asking price is $24,000 OBO. Contact Matt in BDS R&D for inquiries. (517) 279-2384 ext.208

Press Release #113 – Fox 2.0 Performance Series Shocks for BDS Lift Kits

Coldwater, MI– August 23, 2011– BDS Suspension and Fox Racing have teamed up and are proud to announce the release of a full line of Fox 2.0 Performance Series Shocks.  BDS and Fox engineers developed this monotube shock with compression and rebound valving tuned specifically to optimize the ride and performance of your BDS equipped rig. The Fox 2.0 is an upgrade option for most BDS Suspension kit applications and is designed  to be a direct bolt in for easy installation.

The Fox 2.0 features specially formulated race oil and a cold-forged, metalimpacted 6061 T6 aluminum body capable of dissipating heat 3 times faster than conventional steel body shock improving overall performance and longevity.

Case hardened 5/8’’ chrome shafts provide extreme durability and cnc-machined type II hard black anodized aluminum components provide a rugged fade free finish.

Unlike the emulsion shocks you may be familiar with, this new monotube performance shock features an internal floating piston (IFP) designed to separate Fox’s formulated race shock oil from the high-pressure nitrogen charged gas chamber.  This constant pressure eliminates oil aeration and foaming, providing a consistent, predictable ride under the roughest driving conditions with fade-free performance.

Designed and tested for BDS Suspension applications, these shocks are ready to bolt on and perform, not to mention look great right out of the box. Get the most out of your ride today with BDS Suspension and Fox 2.0 Performance Series shocks.

Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival Butler, PA     Aug.12-14, 2011

The guys from BDS took that familiar cruise along I-80 from Coldwater, MI to Butler, PA to hang out with Meridian Off Road Center at the 1st Annual Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival this past weekend. Hosted by Butler Country, this historic event was nothing short of amazing as well over 1000 Jeeps of all years, sizes, shapes, and pedigrees inundated the area and held the largest Jeep parade in history. Butler is the known as the birthplace of the Jeep, where back around 1940 the Bantam Car Company won the bid to manufacture a small light-weight 4WD vehicle to aid in the war efforts.

BDS made it early and set up in the vendor area next to our local distributor, Meridian Off Road Center, a local 4×4 shop to Butler, PA offering top-notch service with over 27 years of experience. Throughout the weekend BDS talked to customers, showed off some of our latest products like the new Fox 2.0 Performance Series Shocks, and took part in the various festival activities. Friday night was the parade and cruise, followed by by vendor show on Saturday and Sunday at the fairgrounds where they they also had a live demonstrations like the Jiffy Jeep Build (see video), how-to clinics, live concerts throughout the weekend, on site obstacle course and trail rides, show ‘n shine contest, kids playground, Jeep heritage exhibit, tons of raffle prizes, fireworks, and so much more. Meridian also held scheduled trail rides out at the 4×4 Outback Adventure trails in Eau Claire, PA 30 Rob and the crew form Meridian held killer deals throughout the weekend on everything from BDS lift kits, Warn winches, Mickey Thompson tires, and Jeep accessories keeping the booth buzzing on Saturday as Jeepers flocked to the fairgrounds to take part in this inaugural event. An early Sunday morning rain and overcast conditions limited attendance until the afternoon on Sunday as everyone came out to find great last minute deals on the perfect accessories for the beloved Jeeps. All in all we had a blast out at the event; all the volunteers and the Butler Country Tourism did an amazing job organizing the event, and Meridian Off Road Center went above and beyond to make this event a memorable experience for everyone attending. If you missed the event, don’t worry, there are already plans in the works for next year and we can’t wait to take that drive again!
