The 2012 King of the Hammers is just days away… The event that started the revolution in off-road racing starts this Friday, February 3, with a week long of racing activities in Johnson Valley, CA. Hammertown is the destination as tens of thousands head into the desert to hang out and watch Jeeps, trucks, UTVs, and motos compete in classes throughout the week leading up to the main event on Friday, February 10, as the KOH prepped buggies compete in a mix of high speed desert and hardcore rock crawling to be crowned the King of the Hammers.
Team Desert Concepts have been busy prepping their IFS buggy #4454 for competition. The rig will be sporting a 670HP stroked LS3, TH400 tranny, Atlas 3.0 t-case, custom 10” billet front diff with RCVs, custom 14-bolt rear, center mounted A-arm front, and triangulated 4-link rear, rolling on 42” BFG Krawlers on 20” Forged Walker Evans beadlocks. JT Stephens and Bryan Grigsby are only days away from fitting the new body of this beast and making the short drive out into the desert for KOH. If you’re heading out to Hammertown make sure to be safe and stop by Off-Road Warehouse’s tent to say hi BDS’s west coast rep Jason Shellhaas.
Check out the December 2011 issue of 8-Lug Magazine for a great tech article titled “A Semi-Custom Build for an Average Guy”. Over the past couple year there’s been a phenomenon that has taken off-road racing by storm. A mix of high speed desert racing and extreme rock crawling that tested man and machine in ways unlike ever before. 5 years after exploding onto the scene, the event that started it all, the King of the Hammers (KOH), is just 2 short weeks away. Each year KOH brings thousands to the hostile desert terrain of Johnson Valley, CA and converge in what’s known as Hammertown. Part party, part vendor show, part garage, this town is build from nothing each year as over 30,000 come to experience the action. The action starts February 3rd as race competition buggies, UTVs, and daily drivers make the trip out into the desert to compete in various classes to be crowned the
King of the Hammers. With qualifying races and smaller classes taking up much of the week the main even is is scheduled for Friday, February 10th. For the full details, maps, schedule, and live race updates, check out Ultra 4 Racing.

If you’ve been searching for a one of a kind, Lamborghini yellow, fully built 4Door JK you may have just missed out. After being built to wow the crowds at the 2011 SEMA Show, this show stopping JK went up for auction with Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale, AZ bringing $55,000 earlier this week. Among the lengthy list of mods this Jeep includes a 6.5” BDS 4-link long arm suspension Fox 2.0 shocks, BDS dual 9500 stabilizer, and rolls around on 38” Kumhos on 20” BMF Wheels. It’s one Bad Ass Ride and congrats to the new owner! For the complete info, check out Barrett Jackson JK.
So I found this on the web earlier today and thought it was a great testament to how we stand behind our products. Phil Howell, Editor-in-Chief of 4Wheel Drive Magazine posted a story about a Jeep braking one of the BDS 5” leaf springs after 11 years of faithful service out on the red rocks of Moab, Utah. One call to BDS and the spring was warrantied thanks to the No Fine Print Warranty that comes with each and every one our lift kit. To see the full story, check out 4Wheel Drive Magazine.
Check out this month’s issue (March 2012) of Diesel World Magazine for SEMA coverage and featured trucks like Fusion Bumpers’ blacked out 2011 Super Duty. Sitting tall on a BDS 8” 4-Link Suspension and 38s this truck with its menacing bumpers was the envy of many. So much so that the magazine gave it a 6-page spread to tell you all about it. Pick up your copy of the March ’12 Diesel World on the newsstand now to ready all about it!
