BDS supports the VRC:
I think it’s safe to say, most of us have a soft spot for dogs. I’m not talking about Dog the Bounty Hunter or close friends we holler at “What up Dog!?”, I’m talking about the 4-legged companions that wag their tail when you come around and get excited at a game called fetch. Recently BDS Suspension had the opportunity to get involved with Tia Torres and the Villalobos Rescue Center in California. Villalobos Rescue Center (VRC), the focus of Animal Planet’s TV show “Pit Bulls and Parolees”, offers a 2nd chance to both at life for the rescued dogs and the parolees it employs. After making the move to a larger facility up in the Tehachapi Mountains they quickly found new challenges with the mountainous terrain, which was difficult to traverse in their stock vehicles. Day-to-day activities were much more challenging as getting stuck became a regular occurrence. Now fast forward a few months and a connection with BDS Distributor Ben Lifted 4WD. After adopting a pit bull from VRC, Ben and Kendra of Ben Lifted 4WD saw an opportunity to help out and gave BDS, Mickey Thompson, Warn, and Iron Cross Automotive a call to see if everyone would get involved by donating products while they provided the services.
The project focused around 3 vehicles, Tia’s ’93 Jeep Wrangler YJ, a ’98 Dodge Ram 2500, and a ’94 Chevy Tahoe. The Jeep got some love in the form of a 3.5” BDS Lift kit, 15×8 Mickey Thompson Sidebiters, 33” Dick Cepek FC-IIs, and Warn 9.5ti Winch. The Dodge received a BDS 4.5” Long Arm Full Spring Kit, 35” Dick Depek Mud Country Tires, and Iron Cross Bumpers. For the Tahoe, a BDS 6” IFS Lift Kit, 15” Mickey Thompson Sidebiters and 33” Dick Cepek FC-IIs. All in all over $20,000 worth of products and services were donated to the VRC from the contributing companies.
With the vehicles completed and returned to the VRC, Tia and the crew can make it around the new facilities with ease. Check out Pit Bulls & Parolees this coming season to see the vehicles in action out on the new property!
