Specially designed for the new Ranger, this 2" leveling kit is engineered for additional tire clearance and improved performance without overextending the suspension or driveline angles at full suspension droop (as is the case with other top mounted spacers and taller leveling kits on the market). The issue with most other kits is they increase the overall length of the strut assembly maxing out ball joints and causing the CV shaft/boot to operate at an extreme angle leading to premature wear/failure of the components. To get around this apparent issue the BDS kit uses a 2-piece design with a smaller top mounted steel strut spacer in combination with a preload spacer. The top mounted spacer installs easily and is finished in a durable black e-coating for a clean appearance. The preload spacer installs below the spring and raises the ride height without extending the overall extended length of the strut assembly while maintaining factory ride quality allowing you to get the most out of your new Ranger's factory suspension.
Also included in this new 2" leveling kit are a pair of precision tuned rear gas shocks to further enhance your Ranger's performance. The BDS NX2 twin tube gas shocks come standard or can be upgraded to the FOX 2.0 performance series IFP shocks for race proven damper technology. This new system builds off the factory mounting points and offers improved strength, ground clearance and suspension travel. The new ride height is the result of a combination top mounted steel fabricated strut spacer along with preload spacer for a total 3.5" of front lift. The reason for the combination is to achieve the correct ride height without increasing the overall extended length of the strut assembly too the point of causing premature wear of the CV axles and other front end components. Also supplied for the front end are a pair of performance upper control arms (UCAs) designed for improved strength and suspension travel. Built from thick wall 1.5" DOM tubing, these UCAs utilize an indexed ball joint cup to reposition the upper ball joints and allowing more droop travel. These arms come fully assembled right out of the box with high quality greaseable Moog ball joints and Clevite rubber bushings for long life, quiet operation and superior corrosion resistance over uniballs and heims. Finishing out the front of these 3.5" systems is a small differential relocation to help further improve CV axle operating angle.
In the rear of these lift systems the factory leaf springs are retained and 1" lift comes from a heavy duty replacement shackle. These shackles are built from high strength 3/8" steel and have the benefit of leveling the stance, correcting rear pinion angle and allowing for increased rear suspension travel. Also supplied for the rear of these 3.5" lift kits are your choice of specially tuned NX2 nitro series gas shocks or FOX 2.0 IFP performance series gas shocks for improved damper performance. All kits come finished in a durable black e-coat finish and sent with all hardware packs to complete the install along with step-by-step installation instructions. Shotpeening increases tensile strength and reduces fatigue while lessening the material thickness required. The thinner material allows for increased wheel travel and provides a softer ride.
Bolt-style leaf alignment clamps prevent leaves from fanning out and allow the leaves to twist and flex, yielding higher articulation.
Each spring is preset using hydraulic stress to reduce fatigue in the steel and prevent sagging.
Some applications include leaf springs with steel encased rubber bushings. Other applications include blue urethane bushings.
Anti-friction pads are placed between the leaves to reduce friction within the spring and noise from metal-to-metal contact.
Tapered and roll-pointed leaves add flexibility and provides an even deflection rate. Tapering allows a smoother transition between leaves as compression takes place, resulting in a softer ride with increased wheel travel.
Springs are either cold wound with chrome silicon 9254 or hot wound with 5160 to guarantee long life.
BDS coil springs are designed to withstand full coil bind. In other words, you can smash our coils to totally flat and they will return to their original height.
A polyester based powder coat is applied to ensure flexibility and durability.
